Who Is Profiting From This State Fair Parade Change?

It has been a tradition for years; parading down Route 66 to the fairground gates in Springfield to kick off the Illinois State Fair. However, this year, the parade route has changed. Why Though? Who?

This year the parade will start at Lincoln Park, from there people will travel North to Sangamon Avenue. They will then walk East down Sangamon Avenue and finish at the main gate to the fairgrounds.

Lots of businesses are going to feel the difference this year with the new route change….

But for one local business it doesn’t really affect them, and boy they have invested a lot of money into the Route 66 Atmosphere. Oh and the owner had made some nice donations to the Republican Party and our Governor…

I’m Am Not Sure What To Say On This One….  – R

  1. Someone thinks a business man made donations to a political campaign so that the politicians would change the parade route going in front of his business two years after the election? And yet somehow that no one will be able to get into his parking lot unless they come down the parade route. If my memory is correct, aren’t all the lanes around there one way after midnight Wednesday?

  2. They want more people to watch parade inside the fairgrounds because they now charge admission on that night. New route will be harder to watch parade from

The the whole fair is an overpriced waste of time. I call it the “Annual Illinois Moneygrub”. It costs an insane amount of money to just walk around and get a bite to eat in the sweltering heat. Same old crap, every year. As far as the parade, here: There’s some politicians, fire trucks, and shriners on cars with two front ends. yay. Now stay home in the AC.

  4. fuck the state fair. parade route was for even poor people to watch, and went thru their neighborhoods. now its just money hungry fucks that enjoy smashing the little guys. stay home or head to a small town where you can still feel like its for everyone.

Franny’s is now Frank Reynold’s dive bar, and isn’t even worth walking into much less paying bribes to route the parade past. Anyone that knows Frank knows he wouldn’t pay a nickel for water if his momma was dying of thirst, much less pull off something like this.
