Back in May of 2015 there were a few complaints of a “Peeping Tom” in the New Berlin area and hen a few in the Curran area also.
Well New Berlin police at the time blew it off as it was nothing, just warned residents to keep their doors and windows locked.
Well in June the Sangamon County Sheriffs Office stepped in and arrested William Sharrow for an incident in April of 2015.
Mr. Sharrow has since been in the Sangamon County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
On July 29th, 2016 Mr. Sharrow made a plea deal with the Sangamon County States Attorney, “Cause called for hearing on Defendant’s motion to withdraw plea of not guilty to Count II, HOME INVASION, a Class X felony. Defendant advised of rights and possible penalties and knowingly waives same. Plea of guilty accepted. Judgment entered on plea. Pursuant to negotiations, Defendant sentenced to 10 years Department of Corrections at 85%. Mandatory supervised release term is 3 years. Defendant to receive credit for 422 days served awaiting trial. Counts I and III dismissed per plea. Civil Judgment entered against the Defendant for fines, fees, and costs. Defendant is to receive $2,110.00 credit towards applicable fees for credit time served. Defendant is to have no contact with the victim for life. Defendant advised of appeal rights and remanded to the custody of the Sheriff pending transmittal to the Department of Corrections, Adult Division, State of Illinois. CAUSE STRICKEN.”
He will be eligible for Parole in October of 2023.
